HID stands for high intensity discharge. Besides, the more time it is used, the more active the xenon molecule becomes, so the light will be brighter and brighter than before.

In an HID xenon lighting system for automobile, the voltage between the two electrodes rises firstly from 12V to 23,000V and keeps stable at 80V by using the xenon HID ballast system. Due to the ultra high voltage, the xenon gas ionizes and a super-bright beam is produced.
